84, of Fountain Hills, Arizona (formerly Sun City) died Friday, May 2, 2014. She was born on September 8, 1929 to Walter and Eunice Gruben. She graduated from Waterman High School. Gloria was happily married to Robert Alms for 63 years. She was a homemaker, and a bookkeeper for Alms Construction. In 1981, Gloria and Robert retired and moved to Lake Montezuma, Arizona where they lived for 20 years and later moved to Sun City. Gloria was a 4-H leader for many years and an active member of the Malta Marion Club and DeKalb County Home Extension. Gloria traveled with Robert throughout the midwest when Robert was contracting with DeKalb Agriculture. She was active in church as a lector and spent many years volunteering at the Olive Branch Senior Center serving meals in Sun City. In the last few years she live at Fountain View Village, making many new friends and enjoying numerous activities. Gloria is survived by three daughters and son-in-laws, Linda (Larry) Hawbaker, Lou Ann (Chris) Denny, and Lori (Larry) Elliott; four grandsons, Bob Hawbaker, Erin Elliott (Audrey), Daniel Elliott, and Patrick Denny; sister-in-law Mary Mack and sister-in-laws Sandy Bullis and Jackie Marshall; and many nieces and nephews. In her immediate family she was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; infant siblings Phyllis and Richard; sister Doris and brother Robert. The family thanks the caregivers at Fountain View Village for the loving care they provided for Gloria. Visitation will be Monday, May 5th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Messinger
