Tempe - Isabel (Liz) Rose Ignaszewski, Rinaldo, Castronovo, of Tempe, AZ, passed away March 31, 2018, peacefully at home. The daughter of John and Rosella (Zabinski) Ignaszewski, she was born in Barto Township, near Leo, MN, on August 29, 1929. She attended a country school near the family farm, and later attended school in Greenbush, MN. Liz married Sam Rinaldo in 1948 in Spokane, WA and together they had 4 children, and owned and operated Sunny Boy Bakery in Rockford, IL, for 25 years. She later married Vince Castronovo in 1977, and retired in Tempe, AZ, where they enjoyed many wonderful years of cherished friendships, travel, and active involvement in The El Zaribah Shriners' activities, until his passing in 2009. She was a past member of the Qadesh Temple No. 35, Daughter of the Nile, Phoenix, AZ, and the Sphinx Court No. 65 Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Inc., Phoenix, AZ. She always had a great time at her luncheons with The Red Hat Society Ladies. Our Mom ("Grandma Liz") was an avid Arizona Diamondbacks fan, and rarely missed an opportunity to see her favorite team play on TV. She even got to celebrate her 70th birthday in a suite at the ballpark with her family, a day to be remembered, for sure! And…they won!! Liz was an amazing cook and hostess, and loved by so many, who were blessed to be a part of her life! She made the BEST Italian cookies, pies, and of course, her incredible cannolis, and gifted them to family and friends. Her legacy will live on in the recipes she has shared! She was truly an extraordinary Mother to her children: daughters Lil (Ken) Kruger, Chandler, AZ, Louise (Phil) Cicero, Mesa, AZ, Connie (Jack) Benson, Roscoe, IL, and son John (Kathy) Rinaldo, Rockford, IL. She is lovingly and fondly remembered by 10 Grandchildren and 20 Great-Grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her 4 sisters: Joann Devlin of Tacoma,WA, Hattie Meier and Philamay Monsrud of Badger, MN, and Erine Dvergsten of International Falls, MN, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her special Godchildren. Preceded in death by husband Vince, parents, brother Isidor, and sisters Marcie and Christine. Funeral Mass to be held at St. George Roman Catholic Church, 300 E. 16th Ave., Apache Junction, AZ, 85119 at 8:30 AM Saturday, April 14th, 2018 with Fr. Domenico Pinti presiding. Interment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations made in Liz's name to . Condolences may be made at www.qohcfh.org.
