James C. Miller
1947 - 2021
James C. Miller, 73, passed away July 2, 2021, at his home in Scottsdale, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born in South Bend, Ind., to Virginia Judson Miller and Dr. James C. Miller. He had an idyllic childhood with his parents and three siblings in Greensburg, Ind., where he cherished lifelong friendships. He went on to earn his bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University and was a diehard Hoosier fan.
Jim served in the Army National Guard and taught science at Fulton Junior High School in Wayne Township in Indianapolis, where he enjoyed coaching basketball and football. In 1975, he began a 30-plus year sales and management career with IBM. Work brought Jim, his wife, Cindy, and their three daughters to Scottsdale in 1988. After retiring in 2008, Jim gave years of volunteer service to Hospice of the Valley, Old Town Scottsdale and spring training games at Salt River Fields.
His quick wit, easy presence and genuine interest in others garnered him friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger he couldn't connect with. Jim was a loving father, husband, son, brother and grandfather. Predeceased by his parents, he leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Cindy Miller, and his three daughters, Lindsay (Mike) Fox, Lauren (Patrick) Mautner, and Jordan (Chris) Logan, as well as five grandchildren - Jocelyn and Phoebe Fox; and James, Lillian and Scotty Logan. He also is survived by his twin sister, Jane (Ford) Kennelly; his younger sister, Julie (Bruce) Hillis; and his brother, John (Lori) Miller. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in his honor may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix 85014 (hov.org) or for pancreatic cancer research at TGen, 445 N. Fifth St., Phoenix 85004 (TGen.org).

So sad to hear this news. I worked with Jim for many years at IBM. I also enjoyed seeing him in Munds Park periodically.
Thoughts and prayers to the entire family.
