Jerome Burg


Jerome Burg, 68, passed away on May 13th at his home in Scottsdale surrounded by family after a battle with Multiple System Atrophy for more than 7 years. He was born in the Bronx, New York on August 2nd, 1935 to parents Ruth and Norman Burg. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and is survived by his wife, Janis, his six children Jeffrey Burg, David Burg, Harriet Bonner (Gene), Audree Jones, Robert Burg (Elsa), and Stephanie Rykaczewski (Paul), his sister Phyllis Gillery, and his eight grandchildren Brendan, Andie, Liam, Alex, Evan, Matthew, Kyle and Nicole. Growing up, he attended and graduated from New York Military Academy, and served in the U.S. Army. After attending Temple University, he worked in the insurance industry, residing in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. During that time he became the President of the New Jersey Devils hockey club. He moved to Scottsdale in 1979, pursuing a financial planning practice. While working for the Acacia Group, he was a radio talk show host for more than ten years with shows on KFYI and KFNN, most notably KFNN's drive-time program, Money Talks. He was also an avid golfer and sports fan. He will long be remembered for his sense of humor and take on life. His attitude and demeanor, even through the course of his illness, was nothing short of amazing. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Services will be 5:00 PM Sunday, May 16, 2004, Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N. Hayden Rd. in Scottsdale.
