June Buster Boston Obituary
June Buster Boston

Mesa - June passed away Sunday evening, March 25th following a brief illness. June was born Frances June Buster on June 2nd 1915 to Roy Buster and Mabel Flannagan. Both her parents died in the Great Flu Epidemic of 1918. June was adopted by her paternal uncle, Will and his wife Martha. They also adopted her older brother John and her younger sister Elizabeth ("Betty"). Both John and Betty predeceased her.

June grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario and Chicago, Illinois. She loved the Chicago area and thought it was one of the greatest places in the world. She met Lee, the love of her life, in Chicago and they married in April 1936.

They spent the war years on the East Coast where Lee served in the Navy. They had their first child a daughter, Lee while he was stationed there. Upon returning to Chicago they added to their family with a son, Tom.

In 1950 they moved to Palatine, Illinois where Lee became Postmaster and June became involved in civic affairs and Village government.

In 1955 Lee and June were pleasantly surprised by the arrival of another child, a son, Bill.

Once both Lee and June retired they began to travel the world, falling in love with the coast of Spain. They loved the Alps and even got to North Africa. Later on she travelled with friends to Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. She visited St. Petersburg when it was still the USSR and had a "minder".

When she learned from her Ancestry DNA test that she was 16% Scandinavian, she hoped she was Finnish since Helsinki was her favorite European capital.

She fell in love with the deserts of Arizona and she and Lee bought a "winter vacation home" in 1979 which quickly morphed into their year-round residence.

Lee passed away in 1988. June felt he died too soon but that getting out of the Chicago winters helped him to live longer and more fully.

June loved golf and played almost every day until she was 88. She continued to travel with friends to Idaho and with her son Bill and his wife Tanya to the Pacific Northwest.

Each grandchild and great grandchild filled her with joy.

The great sorrow of her later years was the death of her son Tom at 62.

June is survived by her daughter Lee, Tom's wife Gay, her son Bill and his wife Tanya. Tom's daughter Jennifer and her husband Pat, and their daughter Chloe, Tom's son Jeremy and his wife Kelly, their children Campbell and Mia. Bill's sons, Ryan and his wife Madison and their daughters Evie and Quinn, Adam, Ben and his wife Scarlet.

June was positively adored by her family and all who knew her. She had a quick mind, a good sense of humor and a loving heart. She will be sorely missed.

Services will be held on Monday, April 9th at 11:00. Holy Cross Catholic Church 1244 S Power Rd. Mesa, AZ 85206

In lieu of flowers please send donations to St Mary's Food Bank or Hospice of the Valley.
