Roman, Karen Ann
54, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on March 20, 2016. Karen was born on December 7, 1961 in Elyria, Ohio to Ronald and Mary-Lou (Webster) Roman. In 1999 she moved to Arizona and worked as an officer at the state correctional facility in Florence. Karen loved all animals, especially horses and her two cats and took great pride creating a beautiful backyard including her flower garden. Karen was preceded in death by her mother: Mary-Lou Roman and survived by her father: Ronald Roman; brother: Ron Roman and sisters: Terry Pietromica and Holly Lamont. Visitation will be Saturday March 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rosary recited and Prayer Service at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Funeral Home, 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa, AZ. Condolences can be made at queenofheavencatholicmortuary.com. Arrangements entrusted to Queen of Heaven Catholic Funeral Home, Mesa.

Karen; I am greatly saddened by your death. We worked well together, and I was pleased when you dropped by my home to say hello. You were one of the most pleasant and kindest people I have ever met. You're leaving shook up my world, because you were one I enjoyed speaking to often. I still have all your texts and emails and I can still hear your voice and laugh, (that part of you always made me smile). I will truly miss you.

My prayers are with the Karen's family. I will always consider it a honor to have known Karen. I had the priviledge to have worked with her at multiple units at DOC. I was always impressed with her wisdom, judgment and professionalism. We shared some great conversations about DOC and the life of a corrections officer. Swing shift has always had a more youthful staff and it was good to have a per more my age that I greatly respected. I have been blessed with many great people in my life and I consider Karen at the top of that list. I will truly miss Karen and treasure the memories of her.

Karen was always the professional and well liked by her Peers. It was our Pleasure to make her acquaintance and develop a working professional relationship that endured through many chaotic and stress filled days. Karen will be missed for a long to come!
