Chandler - Kiyoko Tani Garcia, 89, born in Kobe, Japan passed away on May 1, 2018. A compassionate woman with a heart of gold, she will be missed by many. She taught English and worked with the US Government in Japan where she met Eduwiges "Eddie" Sanchez Garcia. They married on March 19, 1952. Eddie's military assignments lead them to the US where they lived in North Carolina, Alaska, Kentucky and finally retiring in Superior, Arizona. In 1963, she joined SGI-USA based on the philosophy of life, from Nichiren's Buddhism. She respected humanity and challenged all obstacles staying true to her Buddhist faith. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing & bead work. She won several blue ribbons for her beaded necklaces. Preceded in death by her loving husband Eddie and grandson Randy Van Horn. Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Linda Jimenez, Helen Gallego (Robert), Edwin (Annette), David, Teresa Dominguez (Frank), husband's daughter Betty Jo Van Horn who she loved dearly, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and soon to be a great-great grandchild. Memorial services will be held May 21 at 10 am at Bella Rose Estates, 1380 S. Price Rd., Chandler AZ 85286. Kiyoko's ashes will be laid to rest at 2:30 pm in Superior where she will be reunited with Eddie.
