Linda Rae Starks Lewis

Linda Rae Starks Lewis Linda Rae Starks Lewis passed peacefully Sept. 26, 2010 at home in Chandler, Ariz. after a one year ten month struggle with breast cancer. She was born Aug. 29, 1960 to Charles and Virginia Starks in Ponca City. Okla. The middle child of three, she went to school at Roosevelt Elementary, East Junior High and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1978. She then got a Bachelor's of Science degree in geology from Oklahoma State University where she also met her husband, Greg Lewis. After graduating Linda worked at Conoco in the Production Research Department for three years. During this time they lived and owned land that Greg's great-grandparents homesteaded during the Cherokee Strip Land Run on Lewis Street opposite Lew Wentz Golf Course. She and her husband then moved to Chandler where she worked as a Private Investigator and later a startup Biosciences company. She eventually went to work for Fiberquant as an optical microscopist before starting her own graphic design business and partnership. When starting in graphic design, she had their first son, Matt and by the time he reached fourth grade, the family had the opportunity to live in Penang, Malaysia for one year. Linda and Greg's second son, Craig was adopted, and she decided to stop her design business to focus her efforts on family. In the meantime, she volunteered her talents with graphic design and movie production for the Friends of the Chandler Public Library, Unity Church of the East Valley, Hartford Elementary, D.W. Higgins Charter School, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Asperger Parent Network and Si Se Puede Foundation. She had a love for travel. Linda Lewis had traveled to Norway, Italy, Spain, Mexico, France, Canada, Malaysia, Thailand, China, and many countries and various states in the U.S. She is survived by her husband, Greg; sons, Matt Lewis and Craig Starks of Chandler. She is also survived by her parents; sister, Laura Starks; and brother Craig Starks. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research, your local hospice or the Si Se Puede Foundation. Condolences may be left at their home in Chandler or Hospice of the Valley. Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. at the San Tan Elegante Conference Center located at 1800 S. San Tan Village Parkway, Gilbert, Ariz., 85296.
