Margaret W. Irby Ph.D. Obituary
Irby, Margaret W. PhD
passed away at her Cave Creek home in Arizona on Christmas Eve 2009, just six days after reaching her 82nd birthday. She spent most of the last twenty years building Home Health Resources and The Crossing Hospice Care with her partner Theresa Lungwitz RN. Theresa said that Maggie was always up for a new adventure so typical of Margaret's enthusiasm for life, she left her private practice as a clinical psychologist and moved to Az. There she developed and directed the contracting and accounting functions and became the CFO for their companies. When she wasn't working you could find her playing golf with her dear friends at Rancho Manana. Born in Burkeville, Va Margaret was the only child of James Samuel Wilkinson and Maggie Lee Ewing Wilkinson. She was a member of the founding faculty at Kenston Forest School in Blackstone, Va. where she enjoyed teaching counseling and directing choruses and plays. She loved music and served as the choir director at Kenbridge United Methodist Church for several years. Since being diagnosed in early Nov. Margaret was cared for by Theresa and their beloved staff and friends of The Crossing Hospice Care. Margaret is survived by her dear Theresa, Ned, the father of her three sons Ed, Sam and Joe, her two daughter-in-laws and her six grandchildren. There will be a memorial service in Margaret and Theresa's home 41690 Fleming Springs Rd., Cave Creek at 11:30, Jan 11th. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Crossing Hospice Care Foundation, 7500 Dreamy Draw, Phx, AZ 85020.
