Marilyn (Lynn) Braun Potter

Sun City West - Potter, Marilyn Braun (Lynn) was born on April 9, 1943 and passed away on July 9, 2018. She was the only child of Francis F. and Florence Benson Braun. Lynn graduated from Ursuline Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio and Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She studied and trained at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in New York City. While attending theater school, she worked for the Formica Corporation at the New York World's Fair and toured the country promoting the Formica World's Fair House in 1964-65. Returning to Cincinnati Lynn continued to work in sales and promotion for various firms while moonlighting in a number of plays and theatrical productions. In 1973, Lynn began the adventure of a lifetime with her marriage to John Kimmel Potter. In 1984, they moved to Los Angeles, where she volunteered to work at the Olympics. In 1991, she became President of the Young Musician's Foundation Women's Council in Los Angeles. Lynn continued to devote her time to various charities, her church and for fun she played lots of golf and performed in comedy revues which John wrote and produced. In 1994, John retired from his television career, and began writing novels which Lynn successfully edited. In the late nineties they split their time in Los Angele, La Quinta, CA, and Incline Village, NV where she was involved with several local charities - especially youth golf and was a docent for the La Quinta Arts Foundation. In 2005, they moved to Corte Bella Country Club near Phoenix, and bought a condo for the summers in Pinetop, AZ. Lynn became involved with the Desert Palms Presbyterian Church, was a Deacon and a member of the choir. Lynn was blessed all her life with a loving family and good friends who shared her joy for life and delighted in her sense of humor. Her love of God was her hallmark, and she rests in His love and peace. Lynn is survived by her loving and supportive husband, John, her beloved step-children, John W. Potter and Meredith E. Potter, John W's wife, Kim and Meredith's son, Logan along with several cousins and many good friends. On July 16, 2018, Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 19002 N. 128th Avenue in Sun City West, AZ and internment will be held at the Nation Memorial Cemetery, Cave Creek Road, in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, Lynn asked that donations be made to Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, Hospice of the Valley, or the .
