At the time of her death she was the State Senator for District 19 in Mesa, AZ, where she had lived for over twenty years. Her leadership role at the time of her death was Senate President Pro Tempore and Co-Chairman of the Healthy Forest Initiative Committee. She also held the leadership position of Majority Whip both in the House of Representatives and the Senate during her tenure. This was to be her last term in the legislature as she was running for the office of Justice of the Peace. She is widely recognized for her dedication, elegance and unending desire to do the right thing. Marilyn is survived by her five children, LeAnn (Robert) Arganbright, Gary (Susan) Bond, Shelli (Michael) Stathis, Tiffani (Kelly) Mullenaux, Alicia (Sean) McBride, and fourteen grandchildren, and siblings Nona (James) Hansen and Ned (Virginia) Black.
