Phoenix - On Thursday, February 8th, our mother Mary Jane Sweeney peacefully passed into eternal life joining her husband, Robert Sweeney, parents Allen and Mae Briggs and a brother Robert Briggs. Mary Jane was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 7th, 1921, where she met and married Robert in 1942. Shortly after the wedding, Robert went off to serve in World War II. Afterwards, in 1968, Robert and Mary Jane moved to Arizona. Mary Jane is survived by her two daughters, Mary Pat Wickert, Ellen Kirschbaum and son-in-law Robert Kirschbaum as well as 4 grandchildren Susan and Jeff Pietro, Pam and Ray Vargas, Brian and Kathy Miller, and John and Kristen Miller. Mary Jane was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren, whom all loved her and she loved dearly. After the death of Robert in 2007, her final years were spent under the care of her loving family. Mary Jane was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother bringing smiles and humor to all who knew her. There was nothing more that she loved than to be with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her! Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15th at Whitney Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix at 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. (Rosary at 7:00 P.M). A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 16th at 10:00 A.M. at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix. The Committal Service will immediately follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
