Robert Bernarde (Bob) Shaw Obituary
Robert Bernarde (Bob) Shaw

San Diego, CA - Robert Bernarde (Bob) Shaw, longtime resident of San Diego, passed away on September 8, after a brief illness. Bob was born in 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Ellis Bernarde and Helen Marie Shaw. The family moved to San Diego in 1949, shortly after the birth of his younger brother, Lance Richard (Rick) Shaw. Bob attended Hoover High, where "Pogo" (as he was called) was a friend to many and a star athlete. Shortly after graduating from high school, Bob met Cynthia (Boots) Ketchum. Bob and Boots wed in 1964, and were blessed with two sons, Daron and Rick. Their time together was cut short by illness, and Bob raised the boys alone following Boots' death from breast cancer in 1979. Bob had a remarkable

30-year career in the banking industry, starting as a teller and retiring as a senior vice president. While working as a regional manager, Bob met his second wife, Denise (Dee Dee) Brock. They spent 36 wonderful years together, enjoying family, friends, and travelling across the American West. "Grandbob" was a beloved and doting grandparent, creating wonderful memories on the beaches of San Diego and (after relocating to Gold Canyon in 2016) in the foothills of the

Superstition Mountains. Bob is survived by his wife Dee Dee Shaw, son Daron and his wife Shelly, son Rick and his wife Lynnette, and grandchildren Chris, Jessica, Dylan, Sadie, Jack, Kelly, and Kyle. A celebration of life will be held in San Diego at a future date. (For more on Bob's life, please see http://www.tempemortuary.com/obituary/robert-shaw)
