76, Scottsdale, passed away April 19, 2015. Born May 27, 1938 Birmingham, Alabama to Robert M. Wilbanks Jr. and Rexie Anna Clem Wilbanks, Bobby grew up in Winfield and Eufaula, Alabama. Graduated Valedictorian and Most Intellectual, Eufaula High School 1956; Glee Club, Drama Club, Football correspondent. Bob attended The University of Alabama; Delta Chi, Army Cadet Officers' Club, Sports Editor "Crimson White", Associate Editor "Mahout", campus literary humor magazine. Graduated 1960, Journalism Bachelor's, elected "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities", commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Sigma Delta Chi journalism honorary. Journalist for "The Columbus Enquirer" (GA) before called to active duty March 1961 U.S. Army Signal Corps. Briefly stationed Fort Huachuca before posting in Germany where he met his bride. Captain Wilbanks was stationed Fort Monmouth, New Jersey 1965. He served Vietnam 1966-1967 and was honorably discharged from active duty October 1967. The family settled Long Branch, New Jersey where Bob worked for New York Life. In 1971 the family moved to Scottsdale. Bob worked as a Real Estate Broker and retired in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Heidrun "Heidi" Maria Hawlik Wilbanks, Scottsdale; sons Robert M. Wilbanks IV, Scottsdale, Roger M. Wilbanks (Stacie), Los Angeles; grandchildren Kira C. Wilbanks, Iowa, Austin J. Wilbanks, Phoenix; sister Ann Wilbanks Gasque (John), Birmingham, Alabama. Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 27, 9am, National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix; family will receive friends following services. In lieu of Flowers please make donations: Hospice of the Valley, Vietnam Veterans of America (Arizona), or your favorite heart disease or cancer charity.
