Robert R. Rike Obituary
Robert R. Rike

Phoenix - On Thursday, January 3, 2019, Robert R. Rike, loving husband, brother and friends to many, passed away at the age of 74.

Bob was born on July 31, 1946 in Bisbee, AZ to Concepcion and James Rike. He co-owned a successful Johnstone Supply franchise for over 40 years with his business partners Jil Maheu.

In 1985 he reconnected with his high school friend Katherine Thornton and the two became sweethearts, fell in love with one another, and started a life full of passion for all things fun and adventurous. On September 5, 1999, Kathy and Bob married.

Bob LOVED LIFE! And made sure everyone around him LOVED life. He was always up for family or church gatherings. On many occasions Bob would bring everyone together for food, fun, and adventure. He would gather his friends and family and take them on a hayride or out at dusk to look for animals. Bob was also a joker. With his dry sense of humor, he would tease and joke with those around him knowing full well, in the end, he would be the brunt of the joke. Bob loved to travel. He and Kathy have visited 49 states and 5 countries. He enjoyed taking the back roads in their motorhome rather than the fast-pace of planes or interstates. Bob was an active member at Northland Baptist Church and the community of Parks, Arizona. He took it upon himself to take care of those around him. It was nothing for Bob to help someone with plumbing, heating, water, food, or a simple visit and prayer. Bob's attributes were many and he touched many, many lives. Bob will be missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother Concepcion and father James. He is survived by his wife Katherine Rike (Giffin), step-son Scott Giffin, step-daughter Rondee Storms, grandchildren Camron and Brock, brothers Jim Rike, Rudy Rike and sister Ida Morris along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Northland Baptist Church, 8000 N Hwy 89, Flagstaff, AZ at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley or St. Judes Children Hospital. Bob is in the care of Norvel Owens Mortuary.
