Phoenix - 1938-2018

Roberta Fay Lee Coons was born 16 June 1938 in Lakeside Arizona, to Lawrence Robert Lee and Esther Fay McNeil, and died 7 July 2018.

A 1956 graduate of Lakeside High School, she attended Phoenix College for a brief time in 1957 before she met and married Carl Bruce Coons. The couple lived in Ajo, Phoenix, St. David, and then for 46 years in Phoenix. She was a wife, a homemaker, and a dedicated crocheter who loved sharing her creations with family and friends. She was an elections judge for many years in local elections and worked in inventory auditing. A lifelong faithful member of the LDS church, she served in the Primary, in Cub Scouting and in the Relief Society.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, and two siblings.

Surviving are nine siblings; her eight children; Thad O. Coons, LaVerta (Timothy) Lairby, Daniel B. (Cheryl D.) Coons, Charles T. Coons, Frank V. (Tina) Coons, Larry J. (Carole) Coons, Merlin D. Coons, Howard L. (Janine) Coons; her seven grandchildren; Samuel R. Coons, Timothy B. Coons, William H. Coons, Megan A. Coons, Evan C. Coons, Collin G. Coons and Kasidi M. Coons; her numerous nieces and nephews, and many people she took to her heart.

She loved and defended her family fiercely, and her presence will be greatly missed.

Her funeral will be Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 3802 N. 59th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. There will be a viewing at 9 a.m. at that same location. Interment will occur at West Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona.
