Jennie Elizabeth Peters Obituary
Peters, Jennie Elizabeth
Jennie Peters, 63, of Payson, AZ passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 28, 2014. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Anna and Howard Brockway and raised in Binghamton, NY before moving to AZ. She met her husband, Carlos, while living in Tucson and they were married on August 22, 1987. True to her giving nature, she pursued a nursing degree and spent most of her career at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. Working in Oncology and Radiation, often times she would bring in gifts for her patients young and old that were finishing their treatment, as well as receiving tokens of gratitude from them for being such a kind and loving spirit during one of the hardest times of their life. Never letting life's challenges get in the way, her enthusiasm for life and her "get up and go" attitude meant she was always ready for the next adventure. She was an amazing and present mother; she lived for her kids. Some of her greatest memories were those she spent with her husband and boys traveling around the country when they were racing motocross. She loved traveling and being outdoors exploring, and always found beauty where others were too busy to notice. She had a curiosity for everything and was never afraid to try anything new. She never met a stranger, and her home, kitchen and arms were always open for anyone in need of one or all three. She was constantly thinking of others, whether it be a recipe she saw in a magazine that she thought you would like or if she heard about a job she thought you'd be good at, and she never forgot to call to see how you were doing. She was truly selfless. She was so excited to find out she was going to be a grandma, from the first baby to the last. She was their nana and nana-banana. Always spoiling her babies in true grandma fashion, she found no greater joy than when she got to be with them, and she made time to be with them as often as she could. Jennie was a daughter, a sister, a wife, mother, grandma and best friend. She loved fiercely and unconditionally. She was one of a kind. She is survived by her husband Carlos, children Nicholas (Carley), Leonard, and Carlos Jr. (Erica), and her grandchildren Landon, Nomiko, Carson, Charlotte, Audrey and Emmaree. Viewing will be held at Messinger Mortuary at 8555 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85255 on Friday, June 6th at 5pm. Services to celebrate her life will be held on her birthday, Saturday, June 7th at 11am at the same location.
