Morehead, Barbara Jean
60, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on June 22, 2012 after a tough battle with cancer. Barb was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on April 11th, 1952. Her family moved to a ranch near Absarokee, Montana when she was four years old. Barb loved the outdoors and was alway a hard worker. She graduated from Absarokee High School in 1970 and attended college at Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana. Barb started her life with trucks working with road construction crews in Montana. Barb lived in Colstrip, Montana for several years and worked driving trucks for the mine. In 1986 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona and worked construction jobs there and in several different states. While working those jobs she met Bill Shannon. He encouraged her to start her own business and thus became Pacific Overland Transportation Group. Barb and Bill were partners in trucking and in life. He will miss her so very much. Barb was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Jean Morehead. Surviving family members include her father, E.D. "Corkey" Morehead, brothers David Roy Morehead and Edward Daniel Morehead, and sister Janet Morehead Gustuson and their families. Barb will be dearly missed and thoughtfully remembered for her caring heart and her strong work ethic by all of her family, extended family, friends and co-workers. She was one tough gal. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 7th, 2012 at Best Funeral Services, West Valley Chapel, located at: 9380 W. Peoria Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85345 In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to your favorite animal rescue group or cancer research group in Barbara's name.
