Cantrell, Walter Allen
92, of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away on March 20, 2013. He was born Nov. 25, 1920 in Licking, MO, to Ben and Opal Cantrell. Walter was a proud member of the US Army Air Corps, serving as a gunner and radio operator in the 321st Squadron of the 447th Bomb Group during WWII. Later, he was district sales manager for General Mills in California, Colorado, and Arizona, retiring after 34 years with the company. Walter was married to Victoria Valdes until her death and is survived by their daughter, Carla Cantrell of Chandler. Also surviving are Jeanne Cantrell and her children, Pamela Walker, Brian Hannemann and Kathy Hannemann; his sister, Irene Willhite, and her daughter Carolyn Cunningham (Dean) of Cisco, TX; and his nephew, Eric Wolber (Tricia) of Rio Verde, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Frances Wolber, and his brother, H. Dean Cantrell. Graveside services are planned for 11:00 am, Fri, Apr. 5, at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85257. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Walter Cantrell Scholarship Fund in care of the Chandler Education Foundation.
