Bob Drain

On Saturday, March 7, 2020, Bob Drain, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died peacefully at home at the age of 88. Bob was born in Stillwater, OK, on March 18,1931, Ray and Flora (Frye) Drain. He made Arizona his home since the early 1950s.

Bob was well-known by the Great Dane owners nation-wide as he and his wife, Caryl, raised, showed and judged championship level Great Danes for nearly 30 yrs, from the mid-1960s. During this time, he also designed and built two custom homes, and founded and ran his own mechanical engineering business, Environmental Systems of Arizona. One of the many highlights of his career was traveling to New York City with his wife to accept one of only two Honorable Mention Awards given by Owens-Corning Fiberglas Energy Conservation Program of 1972, for the design of his office building at 3660 N 3rd St, Phoenix AZ.

Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Caryl, children Diane (Jay) Drain and Debra (Steve) Schaffer, 4 grand children, 4 great grandchildren and Step-brother, Tony (Mary) Drain. He is preceded in death by his son, David. Bob also leaves behind many other cherished relatives.

Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Hospice of the Valley, who so lovingly cared for him and the family in his last months.
