Buryl Stewart Vance December 3, 1930 - February 24, 2011 Buryl was born on December 3, 1930 to Clyde Stewart Vance and Audrey "Billy" Churchill in Dillon, Montana. He passed away February 24, 2011 at home with his family by his side. Buryl came to California with his parents at the age of 4 where they first settled in Long Beach. Later, the family moved to Bakersfield which was to become his permanent home. He graduated from East Bakersfield High School where he met the love of his life Marilyn Jane Gray in the high school orchestra. They were married November 11, 1951. They raised a family of four children, Mark Douglas, Christine Louise, Scott Randall and Laura Margaret. During his high school years Buryl worked alongside his father in the family pet shop. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve and worked for a brief period with Southern Pacific Railroad. During this time he went to school and began his apprenticeship in the electrical trade where spent the balance of his career as an electrician. Buryl had a great love of music and was a talented violinist. Both he and his wife Marilyn enjoyed lasting careers in the Bakersfield Symphony where they played for 54 years. He had a tremendous love of the outdoors and an avid interest in aviation. He was an accomplished pilot and aircraft owner for many years. He is survived by his spouse Marilyn, brothers Jerry and David, children and spouses Mark Vance (Lauren), Christine Olague (Mike), Scott Vance and Laura Nafus (David). His grandchildren, Ryan Vance, Allison Vance, Megan Olague, Heather Nafus, and Eric Middendorp. Great-grandchild Kayden Kirkpatrick. The family would like to give special thanks to Alternative Care and Hoffmann Hospice. Nurses, Felicia, Ana and Candice for their very special care and love. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bakersfield Symphony and Hoffmann Hospice in his honor.
