Christi Stanford Bowman
October 19, 1961 - February 19, 2021

A memorial service will be held at Riverlakes Community Church in Bakersfield, Saturday March 6, 2021 at 10am. Christi was the beloved wife of Paul Bowman and mother of Alexandra and Reid. She is survived by her father Glenn, mother Donna, brother Robin, and sisters Raquel, Melody and Nicki. Christi was born in Chicago, but lived most of her life in McFarland and Bakersfield. She graduated from McFarland High School in 1980 and then attended University of La Verne, graduating in 1984. She spent the next two years working in Brethren Volunteer Service in Baltimore, MD and Elgin, IL. The next year she spent working as a Resident Director at Manchester College in Indiana and then headed west for a teaching position at McFarland High School. In 1991 she married the love of her life Paul Bowman and continued teaching. She was a teacher and counselor off and on for a total of 32 years. She was an active member in the Church of the Living Savior, playing the piano, organ, leading worship and serving numerous times on the church board. Christi was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, church member, musician and friend. Her positive attitude, generous personality and giving spirit blessed all who knew her. Christi was a strong woman of prayer who leaned on her faith in Christ. She was always there for anyone who needed a caring listener. She will always be loved and will be dearly missed.

"Her children will rise up and call her blessed, and her husband will praise her." Psalms 31:28 The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts should be sent to: Church of the Living Savior.: Christi Bowman Memorial Fund, 117 Fifth Street McFarland, Ca. 93250.

Christi was a true woman of the Lord, was a great person, and a great friend. I remember giving her some organ lessons, may the Lord be with the Bowman/Stanford Family, and she will be missed.

Christi was such a blessing at Church of the Living Savior. She was a fellow PK (pastor's kid) and even made up a handshake with me and my siblings. She will be very missed.

I will always, always love Christi. Always so loving, so kind, so present, so full of life! Mutt and Jeff, we would walk up the church aisle, laughing, singing all the way! We sang duets, played the piano, and ate lunch together at MHS. I'll never forget when you gave me a nickel to get my fried burrito at Watson's, only to find out that meant you didn't have enough for your own lunch! You always had more than enough to share. I simply can't fathom life here without Christi. I've always known she was "there." Now I know and anticipate that Christi will be awaiting each of us "there." My love to each member of the Stanford/Bowman clan. I love you. We all loved Christi, and always will.

Christi was someone who made you feel like the world was a better place because she was in it. Even if you didn't see her for years. I'm glad that I saw her a few years ago at the University of LaVerne Homecoming. I'm keeping you all in my prayers.

Mrs. Bowman was truly one of the most loving and supportive educators I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She was encouraging, inviting, and loved by all. She was very supportive to all the Zepeda family, who had the pleasure of being in her class, including my children and in-laws. Thank you for being a great role model. You have inspired many. May you rest in paradise, and may God bless your family today and always. Lots of love, and our deepest condolences.

This breaks my heart, I would run into her from time to time and she always had the biggest smile on her face. She always made you feel so special when you talked with her. I will miss her dearly and my condolences to Paul, Alexandria and Reid. God definitely had a special angel with him.
