1943 - 2021

Suzanne Braden passed peacefully at her home the morning of March 28th. Suzanne lived a full life always being an eternal optimist no matter what the circumstances. She was the epitome of a glass half full type of woman.

Suzanne went to BHS then BC where she was a song leader and met her future husband George Mendiburu a football player at BC who became the father to their 3 children. The two of them ended up attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she graduated with a degree in Education.

Suzanne had many interests and activities throughout her life from being a modern dance instructor, sewing clothes for needy children when she was involved in Assistance League, she was an excellent golfer, and a tennis player for years playing with her 4 favorite tennis girlfriends every week for many years at Bakersfield Racquet Club. She climbed Mt. Whitney with one of her best friends to mark her great fitness in her 40s and set a bigger challenge at age 50 climbing Half Dome. Later in life she added yoga and meditation to her list of interests, painted watercolor during the years she lived in Santa Barbara and volunteered her time at St Vincent's De Paul for years feeding the homeless.

Suzanne is also a member of the Tejon Indian Tribe where she was nominated onto the very first Council of Elders board. She was very active within the tribe and their causes. But her most prized role in life that brought her the most joy was her grandchildren. Suzanne never missed a talent show, sporting event (and they all played tons of sports), grandparent day or any other significant activity. She was the best grandparent anyone could ever ask for - fun, engaged and completely committed. As the kids went into high school she was part of the faithful "Garces Grandmas" who would be at every game rain or shine. Suzanne would print out the pictures she took of all the kids during the games and handed them out to the other grandmas at the games.

We will miss you very much Suzanne - your selfless love as a mother, grandmother, friend and aunt will be remembered forever. We Love You!

Suzanne is survived by her daughter Nicole Dobrzanski and son in law Robert Dobrzanski, daughter Danielle Mendiburu, son Joe Mendiburu, grandchildren Beck, Claire, Will and Pierce Dobrzanski, Ivy and Sage Mendiburu, nephew Nick Bikakis and nieces Suzy Bikakis and Cari Liftquist, and brother in law Charlie Bikakis.

There will be a "Celebration of Life" held in her honor at her daughter's home on April 15th at 4:00pm, 5743 Vista Del Rio Ct. in Bakersfield.
