Julian Baxter "Jay" King Notice

With great sadness we announce the passing of Julian "Jay" Baxter King at the age of 84 on August 12, 2014, quietly at his home in Palm Coast, Florida. He is predeceased by his wife of 28 years, the former Helen Jankovich of Bradley, MI. Jay's son and daughter-in-law, David and Wendy King, of Huntington Beach, CA, and his two granddaughters, Brigette and Shelby, will cherish his memory. His daughter, Julie King, of Boca Raton, FL, was his compassionate caregiver during the last five years of his life. He is also survived by his two sisters, Rachel Lawrence and Mildred Bryson, of Winston-Salem, NC; his brother, Joe Widdifield, of Morristown, TN; and many dear nieces and nephews. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jay served in the United States Navy for 19 years, and retired in 1973 with a rank of Lieutenant Commander. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following his career in the Navy, Jay worked as Deputy Director of Baltimore County Civil Defense in Maryland for thirteen years. Jay moved to Palm Coast, Florida in 1988. During his retirement years Jay enjoyed playing golf, traveling and following the stock market. He became a life member of the VFW Post 8696 in. Palm Coast. His long time companion and friend, Eleanor Weisbach of Palm Coast, with whom he enjoyed dining, dancing and travel will miss him dearly. Jay's warm and generous personality, his keen insight and intelligence and wonderful sense of humor were outstanding qualities that will always be cherished by his family and friends. One of Jay's greatest pleasures was to share in his granddaughter's joys while visiting them in California. We will miss the magic of his smile and the twinkle in his eyes. He will continue to live on in our hearts and memories for a long time to come. Funeral services celebrating the life of Julian "Jay" Baxter King will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 2 pm with full military honors in the Chapel of Clymer Funeral Home, 39 Old Kings Road North, Palm Coast, FL 32137. The family of Mr. King entrusted the arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home and Cremations.
