Sarah McMahon Obituary

MCMAHON , Sarah Anne On July 13, 2012, Sarah Anne McMahon, 17, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, died at Johns Hopkins Children's Center of complications of leukemia. Sarah was born January 24, 1995 in Annapolis. She attended St. Anne's School of Annapolis and St. Mary's High School, where she just completed her junior year with honors, all of this while battling leukemia. She formerly worked for Watermark Tours as a crew member. Sarah had a love for Montana, David Archuleta and Hawaii. She was certified in SCUBA and had her boaters' license. She loved the outdoors and was called by her parents "our little tree hugger". She was a member of the photography club, I.T.S., and was an active member of St. Mary's High School Drama Department as a stage manager. She was always taking care of and thought of others first, even while battling her leukemia. She never complained or wavered. Sarah is survived by her parents, Dan and Debbie McMahon of Annapolis; grandmothers, Patricia Harmon of Bel Air, MD and Anne McMahon Shadid of Annapolis; and great-grandmother, Eleanora McIntee of Bel Air. She is also survived by her aunt, Susie Elcik (and her husband Jeffrey and their children), and her uncles, Glenn A. Merritt (and his wife Gina and their children), and Edward T. Harmon (and his children).
Friends and family may visit Monday, July 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 17 at 10:30 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Sarah's memory to the Johns Hopkins Hospital Pediatric Oncology, Bloomberg Children's Center, 1800 Orleans St., Baltimore, MD 21287. The cross country team wore ribbons for her last year for the championship run, as a sign of their loveand support. I know she will be greatly missed by her classmates and the staff at St. Marys.
