HALLOWELL, MAINE Amelia P. Alioto, age 95, died Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, ME following a long illness. She was born in Baltimore, MD on December 26, 1922 a daughter of the late Gustav and Katherine (Otremba) Radtka. Mrs. Alioto was a graduate of Baltimore Business College. Mrs. Alioto had been employed as an Executive Secretary for Macy's Department Store Foreign Office in NYC for several years before she and her husband Frank started their family. Later, she also was employed at the Long Island Press and the State of New York. Mrs. Alioto met the love of her life, Frank J. Alioto, Sr. at a dance at Fort Meade in Maryland at the beginning of the Second World War. They fell in love and wrote to one another regularly while Frank served in the Army, overseas in North Africa, Italy, and throughout Europe. They married after Frank's return and were married for 56 years until he pre-deceased her in 2002. Mr. and Mrs. Alioto both enjoyed family and travel and had the good fortune to visit many U.S. and overseas destinations in retirement. Mrs. Alioto was also pre-deceased by five brothers: Gus, Martin, Charles, William and John. She is survived by two sons: Frank J. Alioto, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Los Gatos, CA and Paul J. Alioto and his wife Nicole of Dansville, NY; two daughters: Bernadette Burbeula and her husband Roger of Monmouth, ME and Mary Catherine Alioto Donahue and her husband Lawrence of Richmond, ME; a sister, Margaret Becker of Strasburg, PA; a brother, Henry Radtka and his wife Dolores of Linthicum Heights, MD; four grandchildren: Justin, Frank III, Luke, and Natasha; two great grandchildren: Frank IV and Alyssa Amelia as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may visit on Wednesday, July 11th from 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 12th at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Western Ave., Manchester.
