Harry Gilbert Obituary

HARRY E. GILBERT, born June 27, 1916, died October 31, 2002 in Cape Coral, Fla. Born in Baltimore, he moved to Ocean City, MD in 1980, before retiring to Florida. Mr. Gilbert attended Gilman School and graduated from Calvert Hall where he played ice hockey. Mr. Gilbert attended Johns Hopkins University and graduated from the University of Baltimore Law School. He was a real estate appraiser and an MAI, member of the Appraisal Institute. He owned 2 hotels in Baltimore before its renaissance in the 1970s, first the St. James, then The Stafford. His first 2 marriages ended in divorce. He is survived by his wife, Betty E. Gilbert of Cape Coral and brother C. Gordon Gilbert of Baltimore. He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy B. and Deborah R. Gilbert of Whaleyville, MD and their children, Alexis, Hannah and Toby. Also grandsons Geoffrey Brooks of North Carolina and Brian Gilbert, great-grandson Alex Brooks and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Mary Louise Leonard and son Harry E. Gilbert, III. Memorial Services have not been finalized.
