On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, Robert (Bob) Holland, beloved husband (64 years) of Gloria Patricia (Pat) Holland (née Hoglund) passed away following a short illness. He is also survived by his children Cathy (Jim) Flynn, Terry Holland, Steve (Carol Dougherty) Holland, and Dottie (Kevin) Simpson. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy (Kris) Holland. He was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Catonsville, Bob was a 1948 graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (A-Course), and a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. Bob was a lifetime member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He served 5 years as a United States Air Force jet fighter pilot during the Korean War. He spent 46 years as an owner, president, CEO / Chairman of the Board of Holland Manufacturing Company in Baltimore. In addition, he also served on the boards of the Southern Hardware Association, Eastern Hardware Association, National Hardware Manufacturing Association, as well as Rolling Road Golf Club. He spent several years as a Catonsville Little League coach and umpire. Bob loved his family, playing golf, playing cards, the local sports teams, travel, and his friends. At the time of his death, Bob resided with his wife, Pat, at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD since April 2004. Friends are welcome to visit and celebrate his life on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 1-4 PM at Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home, 1630 Edmondson Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Benevolent Care Fund at Charlestown Retirement Community, 701 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228.
