SOLTESZ , William R. William R. Soltesz, 62, of Chester, NJ, passed away peaceful on Thursday, September 13, 2012 surrounded by friends and family. Bill was born on May 25, 1950 in Washington, DC. Bill grew up in Catonsville, MD and obtained his bachelor degree as one of the first graduating classes of the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He was the President of UMBC's Student Government Association, and was pivotal in working with faculty and students to keep the university open during a time when many other fledgling universities closed down due to student riots and political pressures related to the Vietnam War. Many hundreds of thousands of alumni, including Bill's daughter and son-in-law, received their degrees from UMBC due to his efforts in the SGA. Bill received his MBA from Loyola University in Baltimore, and served as Vice President or Chief Financial Officer for multiple Fortune 500 companies including Alexander and Alexander and Sara Lee's Shasta Beverages Division in Baltimore, MD. At the time of his passing, Bill had served as the CFO of Budd Van Lines in Somerset, NJ for over 20 years. He also served on the Chester Borough Zoning Board. Bill enjoyed swimming, the study of foreign culture and history through extensive world travel, and studying the American Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Bill is survived by his children Douglas Soltesz of Flanders, NJ and Tracy Soltesz of Catonsville, MD, and their respective spouses Megan Soltesz and Eric Silva; his two grandchildren Aiden Soltesz and Leif Silva; and his brothers John and James Soltesz.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 1-4 PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. Interment will be private.
