Alan Dean Fiegle, 71, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away on February 6, 2025 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas due to complications following a stroke. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
Alan is survived by his daughter Sheri Widerburg (Ron); his son Brent Fiegle (Jennifer); his stepsons, Johnny O’Connell (JoLynn) and Jimmy O’Connell (Naila). He is also survived by his brother Ron Fiegle and sister Jeri Gummerson. He was preceded in death by his father Albert Charles Fiegle; his mother Edith Mildred Patz Fiegle; his brother, John; and beloved wife Christine, who passed away in December of 2021 after 42 years of marriage.
Born on May 14, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, Alan was the youngest son of Albert and Edith Fiegle. He grew up alongside his siblings- John, Ron and Jeri - and graduated from Crown Point High School in 1971. He went on to earn an associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering from Valparaiso Technical Institute in 1974.
Alan built a career as an electronic engineer with Texaco, working throughout Arkansas, Louisiana and the Gulf Coast during the 1970s and 1980s. It was in this time that he fell in love with the natural beauty of Arkansas, where he always planned to retire. In 2007, he purchased land near Yellville, improving it over the years and eventually building his home with the skills he had acquired throughout his life. A true jack-of-all-trades - yet master of several - he worked as a journeyman electrician in his youth, a handyman in the early 2000s, and as an IT professional, gaining expertise in plumbing, carpentry and electrical work along the way.
Later in life, Alan was an avid ham radio operator (call sign AF1CF) and a proud member of the Marion County Amateur Radio Club, connecting with operators around the world. He also found great joy in raising chickens, generously sharing their eggs- or the chickens themselves- with family, friends, and local food banks. He was a devoted advocate for helping those in need, regularly donating clothing and household items to thrift stores and giving blood as often as he could. Alan was the kind of man who would stop to help a stranger, believing deeply in the importance of feeding the hungry, clothing the less fortunate, and caring for those in need. He was an example of what a man should be.
A passionate cook and proponent of the keto lifestyle, Alan loved experimenting with new recipes, delighting those around him with his culinary creations.
Alan was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. In accordance with his wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held, and his remains will be cremated.
