Alec Bronchuk Obituary

Alec Jacob Bronchuk, 20, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Thursday June 13th, 2019 in a tragic accident while kayaking on the Merrimack River.

He was born on May 18th, 1999 in Boston, MA to Phillip “Jake” and Michelle (Mackie) Bronchuk of Merrimack. He was a graduate of Merrimack High School and was currently enrolled at Plymouth State College.

Alec was an avid athlete and co-captained the 2016-17 Tomahawk squad to a semifinal appearance in the NH Division 1 State Championship. Following the season, Alec was selected to participate in the annual CHaD All-Star football game and was one of the top fundraisers for team West that year- putting his heart and soul into the fund raising effort for the incredible work they do. At the annual Tomahawk football Banquet, Alec was presented with the team leadership award by Assistant Coach “Goodie” (as he was affectionately known by the kids) who gave an impassioned endorsement proclaiming - “That kid would make you want to run through a brick wall for him - but he dropped a lot of F bombs”. Alec loved his Tomahawk brothers and was extremely grateful for Coach Kip and his staff who were more than coaches - but true mentors, role models, and friends to him.

An avid outdoors-man his entire life, Alec was never far from a fishing hole or duck pond in Southern New Hampshire and could frequently be found fishing the banks of local streams and ponds with his brothers and best friends Sean and Jesse, arguing about who caught the bigger trout or bass. As the leaves changed in autumn he could be found with his buddy Jason water-fowling up and down the river. In the summer months, he would be chilling with his best buddies Ty, Ryan, Nick, John and too many others to mention. If you were Alec’s friend, you were his brother and an immediate extended member of his family.

Alec also enjoyed making music with his buddy Nick (a talented local musician) and his brother Sean. Together they put together some amazing compilations that caught the attention of several production companies.

To his parents, Alec was a bright shooting star in their sky that left far too soon. But they are eternally grateful that they were blessed to have him in their life for these past 20 years.

Alec’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the members of the Concord Fire Department, Concord Police, State Police, Marine Patrol, and Fish and Game who spent countless hours working in treacherous conditions to bring him home. Alec will be forever loved and missed by his parents, Jake and Michelle Bronchuk; two brothers, Sean Donahue and his fiancée Diane Laborera, and Jesse Bronchuk; paternal grandmother Christine Bronchuk of Weymouth, MA and her late companion Gabriel Maimaron; paternal grandfather Phillip Bronchuk and his wife Patricia of Plymouth, MA; maternal grandmother Kathie Shea-Hollis and her husband Peter Hollis of Gloucester, MA; maternal grandfather Richard Mackie of Merrimack; aunts and uncles Jerilyn and husband John Spokis, Nicole Bronchuk, John Perchard and wife Amy, Bonnie and husband Mike Giblin, Jackie Perchard, and Michael, Richard, Kristin, Shannon and Thomas Mackie, and Alexa Levine along with numerous great uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH on Tuesday, June 18th from 4 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Wednesday June 19th at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Last Rest Cemetery, across the street from the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations in Alec’s memory to go to the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD), 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03766 or online at www.chadkids.org

I just watched the episode of North Woods Law featuring your beautiful son. All I could do was cry. My heart breaks for you & your family. I don’t think there can be greater pain than losing a child but one thing I know for sure is no separation can ever break the bonds of love. May God bless you as He holds Alec in His arms & all of you in His heart.

To the Bronchuk family:
We lost 1 of our sons, Matthew, in a house fire on 6-10-2018, at his best friend's home. We have had sleepless nights at times since then, as we're sure you have too. If NOT for our trust in God's will and our Catholic faith, we couldn't have survived this great tragedy. He was to be married in 3 months, all the plans were coming together, then fell apart in an instant. We still have unopened bridal gifts here.

We will pray for Alec's soul and for peace in your hearts and KNOW your pain all too harshly.
God bless you,
Joe & Dolores (Dee) Pacacha

So very sorry you lost your son, family member and friend. My husband and I were watching Lone Star Law and saw the story about Alec's recovery. I was very touched. Praying his loss will not be in vain as people who learn of the incident on the TV program will be warned of the dangers of the river and the importance and how to be better prepared for safety. May God bless you all with His peace, love and compassion. Sincerely, Gloria Smith

My Mama & I just watched the segment of your beloved sons tragic accident & passing on North Woods Law. I cannot even begin to comprehend the unimaginable grief of losing a child; especially one who was such an extraordinary young man. I wept for him & for you. God bless you & keep you until you are with your precious boy again.

June 7, 2020

I came across the story of this young man because of the TV show. It broke my heart as a father myself to see another father have to identify his sons remains. While reading up on the background if this gentleman I saw just recently about another young adult who has lost their life about a year after. This young lady had a death from the same exact river. I am heart broken this keeps happening. I really hope this doesn't happen anymore. I hope and pray their lives are not overlooked. Help bring awareness to not let anyone else loose a daughter or son, sister or brother (and so on). I myself have two kids and have no idea how hard this truly is to go through grieving. May God by with you during this. Or whatever you may believe, may they bring you comfort and peace. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Tonight I watched yalls very real nightmare play out tv on Northwoods Law like so many other viewers , I wanted to take a minute to say thank you for sharing such a tragic time in your families story . Your sons story touched my heart and my boys tonight. I too have 3 boys and my youngest son is about to turn 20 in just a few months and I thought how often I find my self fussing about saftey and them foolishly acting like nothing will happen to them so tonight I made my boys watch the episode again with me and afterwards we read alot more about your precious son and his short life . I pray by sharing your sons passing with the world yall have kept many other young adults safe I know it opened up my boy's eyes and they was able put a face with it and I believe the next time they wont feel so "redicioulus" as they say by wearing a vest while on the water . Looking cool just didnt seem quite as important for them any more and I cant thank you enough for that . God bless each and everyone of yall I pray God is healing your hearts . God bless and thank you .

Alec, you have captured hearts and captivated an audience from the day you were born. Your smile brightened any room. As a teenage Aunt I was so proud of you and your brothers and my friends would gravitate to our house just to come play with you and your brothers, our little dolls. You have always been so sincere and with good intention as well as empathetic to others. You saw the good in everyone and sought to make people feel good, making friends where ever you would go. You could certainly be mischievous at times, but you knew how to use that beautiful smile and those dark eyes to melt the hearts of those around you. Always showing gratitude for even the smallest gifts and gestures, you made those around you feel appreciated and valued. I love how sweet and tender you were with my babies, your little cousins, even though you were years apart in age. Teaching Andre, 2, just last week how to play baseball and joking that it was baseball not golf when he tried to hit the ball on the ground with the bat. You have been such a gift to anyone whose path you have crossed and found ways to make people laugh even in their darkest days. You have been one of the greatest gifts in my life and watching you grow and spend time with you has brought so much joy and purpose to my life. I thank your Mother and Father for sharing you with me and all of us as we are all better people because you graced us with your short time on Earth. Were you just an angle lent to us for a short time by our great maker? Im feeling that is so. Trying to let the anger, hurt and frustration go and appreciate the blessing of having you for 20 wonderful years. You will be more than just missed Buddy. Looking forward to seeing you again. In the meantime please watch over all of us and help us to live life as you would. We love you. Love Aunty, Jerilyn. Ps I saw a license plate today while feeling in despair missing you and knew you were with us....it read Aunty.
