Services for Specialist Alexander Wayne Missildine, 20, of Tyler, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel with Reverend Dustin Slaton officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. Specialist Alexander Wayne Missildine passed into Our Heavenly Father's arms on October 1, 2017. Alex was killed in action while serving on active duty for the United States Army in Iraq. Alex was born on December 14, 1996 in Tyler, Texas.
Alex began building his skills in leadership and logistics in the Robert E. Lee High School band. It was there he gained lifelong friends and mentors. They have all truly stepped up and shown their continued love and support, even in his passing. Alex dreamed and never wavered from serving as a soldier for our great nation. In the span of a little over two years, he reached the rank of specialist as a motor transport operator. He loved his job, the challenges the military presented, and the opportunities he received while serving our great nation. Alex died with honor as a hero, the one his family and friends had known him to be all of his life.
Alex is survived by his parents, his father Michael and Jodie Missildine, and his mother, Robin and Rusty Goodwin. He is also survived by three adoring sisters: Bailey Goodwin, Sarah Boysel, and Tara Whittenburg. Alex is survived by two devoted brothers, Reagan Goodwin and Byron Crawford. Surviving grandparents include Marsha Ross, Bob and Florence Ross, Betty Goodwin, Gary and Liz Missildine, Jackie Gentry and Frank Alewine. Lots of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, battle buddies, as well as brothers in arms who remain on Earth in testimony of Alex's love.
Important to Alex, he was preceded in death by his Pepa, Ray Ross, his Papaw, Ronnie Goodwin, and a cousin he loved as a brother, Dylan Alvarado.
In lieu of flowers, please help us to honor and remember the military personnel like Alex and help his family and other families like theirs by making memorial donations to the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, PO Box 1337, Midlothian, Texas 76065, 844-336-2533, www.chriskylefrogfoundation.org; The Mission 22 for Prevention of Veteran Suicide at www.mission22.com; Snowball Express, 611 S. main Street Suite 400, Grapevine, Texas 76051, 817-410-4673, www.snowballexpress.org.

You know God has to take some of his angels home early and this was a perfect worker for his army in heaven-if you met him you know what I mean - Alvin and I thought he was such a blessing for us here on earth but sometimes God needs these worker bees in heaven. Mother is there and know she has been so impressed with him-God and momma are both for him there but we miss him so much here-a son with a heart of gold and was such a good servant to show up where he was called. We will get to see him when we get there because we we know why they needed him-such a good soul! We can cross that line when we get there because we already know someone there. Love you and your family!! Alvin and Benita Huskey

I didn't know him but his grave is in the cemetery of my ancestors as far back as 5 generations. We recently buried my 40-year-old sister there. Thank you for your service, and may God grace your family with peace and comfort.

I was at SADOC just 15 minutes down the road, we were about to roll out and head back up to Q-West that night when we got the news. They had encountered the IED before we rolled out, we weren't aware a LOGPAC (supply mission) was headed our way. It was pretty bad at SADOC, we were limited to one MRE (field ration) and two bottles of water a day. No showers, sleeping on our trucks or in a bombed-out building, outside medical coverage. I've also been to Afghanistan, but our time there during that part of the deployment was by far the most dangerous and the worst-off I've ever been in the Army. This was during the Hawija fight, SADOC was a ramshackle Iraqi camp on the side of Route Tampa, we had almost no food, water, or medical supplies -we barely had enough ammo and fuel. Every supply mission that reached us was a Godsend. Alex was part of the supply mission trying to bring us desperately-needed supplies, we had almost half a battalion out there stranded and cut off from the supply train. We had almost nothing, he was helping change that, and they got hit. I won't forget that night, our platoon medic did everything he could, we tried all we could. The most beautiful thing is that he was trying to help others, he was trying to help all of us out there, and I didn't know him personally but we loved him for it, he's our brother.
I visited his grave on my way to Utah back in June -we were all going home on leave, but he was already home, but we think about him everyday. I left him some medals and a 10th Mountain patch, spent some time there and just wanted to let him know I was there and we tried so hard, I love him. He is missed and he is truly in our hearts, I think about him and that horrible place everyday -he was just trying to help us, we won't ever forget.

In honor of our fallen heroes on this Memorial Day, I chose Alex's photo from a page of all those lost in recent years. As a veteran myself, I just wanted this day to be personal for me, and you, in remembering not only all of the lives lost, but Alex in particular. We live free every day because of his sacrifice and I just wanted you to know that you are not alone in remembering what they gave. God bless you all.

To The Missildine Family (Memorial Day 2018)
I want you to know that your son, Alexander was prayed for on Sunday at Santa Clara Catholic Church in Yorba Linda, California which I attend. His name was placed in a basket along with other military personnel who died this past year and I was fortunate to draw his name. I want you to know that it is an honor to write you and thank you for your son's service to this county and for making the ultimate sacrifice for us. I am a Marine Vietnam veteran and I know that those who have had to fight for it and those who have lost a relative fighting for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know. I sincerely believe that he is with you always and that you will one day see him again. Jim Crossan, Yorba Linda, California

I have met such a loving family in Robin and Rusty that have hearts of gold. Alvin and I had the opportunity to meet their son and his girlfriend. He had such a warm heart and a smile to melt any young lady. He had his "stuff: together and you could see that with just meeting him a few times as I did-God has a reason and we will not know until we get to heaven but God needed him more than we do as Alex had a sweet heart and will serve in God's army and get moved to the front of the line. We have boys and know how special they can be and would not understand why God would take them before us but God needs them or why he would not take them from us. Love to you both Robin and Rusty. You can be proud and know their is a reason-Love to you both! Alvin and Benita Huskey in Christ's name we know where he is today!!!
