Alexis J. (Simmons) Copeland, age 31, of Phoenix Arizona passed away on April 5, 2024 at her home. She was born on February 27, 1993 to Melissa Burkhalter. She grew up in the Phoenix area and graduated from Moon Valley High School in 2011. She married Lee Copeland in March, 2019, in Virginia. Once he was released from the USMC, they moved back to Arizona to be close to family and friends. Alexis had a very challenging childhood due to her many health issues and surgeries. She worked in various places including Starbucks, Walmart, Princess Resort spa and finally, Planet Fitness. She loved her family, fashion and music. She is survived by her daughter, Illithyia, her mother (Melissa Swan), stepfather (Erick), grandparents (Larry & Cheryl), (Bill & Brenda), 3 sisters ( Morgan, Sidney & Kenzie) and a brother (Jake) as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her great great grandparents, great grandfather, great grandmother and two great uncles.
Donations in her memory can be made to The Smile Train or Phoenix Childrens Hospital. A celebration of life will be later in April.

The words at a time like this are so hard to find. When you're talking about someone who defied all the barriers placed in front of her, who accomplished things no one else dared to dream for her, to be taken from us so unexpectedly, so soon, it just leaves your own soul empty. Lexi touched the heart of everyone she ever encountered. To say she will be missed is an enormous understatement. As cliché as it sounds, this world will never be the same without her. RIP beautiful!
