Alfredo Galaz Obituary

Alfredo “Freddie” G. Galaz, 84, of Las Cruces, NM, entered eternal life on October 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 31, 1941, in Las Cruces, NM to Santiago and Manuela Galaz.

Throughout his life he was a very hard worker and always did his best. He had a deep love for God and believed in praying the rosary daily and reading his bible. He worked for the government for 42 years. He worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and was an excellent baseball coach for many years. He was so proud of his team the Tigers, who made it to State in 1987. We always found him doing yardwork as he loved being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Gloria, his three daughters Marie Castillo (Tom), Patricia Padilla (Lencho) and Angela Saggerson and his son Daniel Galaz. He is also survived by his two sisters Gloria Galaz Venzor and Sally Galaz and his brother Roberto (Bobby) Galaz (Veronica). Other survivors include ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers David G. Galaz, Paul (Chapo) Galaz and George Galaz and a sister Herminia (Minnie) Lara.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church. The Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 2:30 pm followed by the Funeral Mass at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow at St. Genevieve’s Columbarium.

The family wants to express their appreciation to those who contributed to his care. A very special Thank You to Blue Horizon and Amber Care (Hospice).

Patricia, Lencho and Family:
Though I didn’t know your father well, what i can say is that he was ALWAYS kind! I knew him from his attendance at the high school basketball games. May God bless you during this time and may the memories of such a kind and pleasant man warm your heart.♥
