Alice Bien Giorgetti was born in Petaluma at Hillside hospital, across from Penry Park, on November 23, 1925. She was born to legal German immigrants Alfred and Dora Bien. Alice attended Cinnabar elementary school, Penngrove Elementary School and Petaluma senior high…class of 1944.
When in San Francisco at a social gathering, she met Gene Giorgetti. Gene was a sailor during the war and they married in September of 1944. Alice was a very talented athlete, musician and artist. She was very good at playing tennis and softball. Alice was taught to play the accordion early in life, finding that she could play by ear, learning many instruments on her own. Mom’s musical ear listened to a song, and then played the song with the instrument at hand.
In the early 50’s, Alice and her husband Gene purchased a 5-acre chicken ranch from Joe Alieg in Penngrove. They worked the ranch and raised their children Gene (Gino), Linda, and Cynthia.
Alice was not afraid of work. In the late 1940’s Alice worked for Decker’s Studio in Petaluma…color touching portraits. If you have pictures from Decker’s from the forties and early fifties, I am sure Mom did the coloring. Alice also worked on the chicken ranch in Penngrove helping tend to the cows, ducks, geese, rabbits and goats. In the mid 50’s the egg business floundered and Alice chose work outside of the ranch. Alice worked at the “apple dryers” in Sebastopol, Sunset Line & Twine and Kresky manufacturing. At Kresky’s, Mom worked in the sign department under the supervision of artist John Bagley. They designed and constructed the many road signs you see today. Alice’s final employment and most rewarding was that of school bus driver for the Petaluma City Schools. Jim Veronda trained and then hired Mom to drive school bus. Mom very much enjoyed meeting and befriending the many children throughout the years. They nicknamed her “GEORGIE”. In retirement….Alice opened her home to childcare.
Mom, in her late 70’s and early 80’s won the milking contest at Sonoma County Fair a multitude of times. Mom & Pop enjoyed their grand daughters equestrian accomplishments…as the family belonged to the Petaluma Riding and Driving club. Alice is survived by Gino Giorgetti and Cindy Krout (Terry). Also survived by granddaughters Jennifer Cromwell, Natalie Greenberg (JC) Andrea Sanchez (Dan) and proud great grandmother of six.
Predeceased by daughter Linda Giorgetti, brother Fred Bien and wife Gladys Bien. Grateful to the staff at Willow Glenn Care Home and Family House Care Home. Donations may be made to Bridge Hospice and Providence Hospice of which we are indebted.
A visitation will be held at Adobe Creek Funeral Home on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 331 Lakeville Street, Petaluma, California. A private burial service will follow.

I remember Alice and Gene as special Penngrove friends of my parents, Al and Marion Smith. I was too young to know them, yet they have always been a fond memory. My condolences, hugs and prayers.

Oh Cindy.
How I loved your mother and all the fun times we had in the riding club with Hans at the wheel..
Riding our wonderful horses and laughing at all of our funny mistakes
Her obituary was wonderful. I had no idea of all the great things she did in her life. She was one of a kind love to you and Gino and heavenly love to Linda.

We loved Alice very much and visited with her every time we saw my mom Alberta at Willow Glenn. During warm weather we all sat on the backyard deck and enjoyed the sunshine & watching the golfers enjoying their day in the great outdoors. On cooler days, we all sat and watched our walking tours on UTube. Most of all we enjoyed our meals we had together smiling, laughing, & getting know one another. She’ll be missed. What a beautiful, wonderful & memory filled life she lived.
