Allan Pierson Palmer, of Schnecksville, PA, died January 14, 2026, at the Complete Care nursing home in Macungie, PA. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on August 24, 1932, the son of the late Lewis Lyndon Palmer, Sr. and Frances Yeatman (Pierson) Palmer. He was 93.
Allan lived in Stamford, CT, then Hockessin, DE, and then Landenberg, PA, when he was young. In 1950, he graduated from the George School Quaker boarding school in Newtown, PA, where he played on the soccer team. He was a member of the Delta Theta Sigma agricultural fraternity at The Pennsylvania State University and earned a B.S. in Agricultural Economics in 1954. He joined the U.S. Army after graduation, achieving the rank of corporal and serving in the Panama Canal Zone. He was married June 29, 1957, at London Grove [PA] Friends Meeting to Janet Ruth Heess of Kennett Square, PA.
Allan spent most of his career working as a district manager for sales, first for the International Harvester Company (IH) and later for Woods Equipment Company—a division of the Hesston Corporation. During his career, he lived in London Grove, PA, Clearbrook, VA, briefly in Florence, MS, and then Schnecksville, PA.
Allan enjoyed genealogy, playing games, and watching Penn State football and the Philadelphia Phillies. He also loved annual trips to Cape May, NJ. In his retirement, he became an avid collector, specializing in cast iron toy tractors, trucks, and cars, and for 20 years, his table was a regular fixture at Shupp’s Grove Antique Market near Adamstown, PA, and Jake’s Flea Market in Barto, PA.
In addition to his wife of 66 years and his parents, Allan was predeceased by his brothers, Paul Cutler Palmer and Lewis Lyndon Palmer, Jr. He is survived by his son Jeffrey A. Palmer (Sarah) of Elkton, MD; daughter Laurie E. Bonner (Steven) of Columbia, MD; son Eric L. Palmer (Rebecca) of Oxford, PA; grandson Allan N. Palmer of Elkton, and one nephew, one niece, one grandniece and one grandnephew.
He was a life-long member of the Hockessin Friends Meeting in Hockessin, DE. A memorial service and private interment at the Meeting are planned.
