Allen J. Whitson

1929 - 2021

Allen J. Whitson, 91, passed from this life on Saturday, July 17, 2021, with his daughters by his side.  Allen was born September 23, 1929, in Cresent, Oklahoma to John Allen and Beulah Whitson.  He was employed by Henderlighter Manufacturing for 30 years.  Allen served his country in the United Sates Army and was very proud of his service.

Allen was an avid hunter, breeder of hunting dogs, and outdoorsman. In his younger years he was a middleweight boxer, and president of the steel workers union for two years in Arizona.  Allen met and later married Lavon Tilley.  They celebrated almost 41 years of marriage at the time of her death in 2001.    

Allen is preceded in death by his parents John Allen and Beulah (Fisk) Whitson; wife Lavon; son Allen James Whitson; brothers Glenn and Marvin Whitson and sisters Edith, Violet and Mary.

He is survived by his daughters Regina and James Long of Sapulpa and Angela and Gary Smith of Bristow; brother A.J. Whitson; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville with burial to follow at Welty Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, 35 S. Main, Kellyville, Oklahoma, 918-247-7373.
