Anna Marie “Ann” Teinert, age 93, of Cypress, Texas went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2023. Ann was born on August 13, 1929 – the second of five children - in Giddings, Texas to Otto and Andanilla Balke Gruetzner. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church and moved to Austin at the age of 3 where she was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church and was active for many years. She graduated from Austin High School in 1946, and attended St. John’s College in Winnfield, Kansas. She then moved to Houston where she taught kindergarten and first grade before moving back to Austin where she did secretarial work at the University of Texas and met the love of her life, Willard C. Teinert, at church.
In 1952 they were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin by Rev. Albert Jesse. They lived in Tulsa, Belton, Temple, and Waco, but spent most of their married life in the Austin and Elgin area and were actively involved at Hope Lutheran and St. Paul Lutheran churches in Austin as well as Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin. In 2002, they moved to Friendswood, TX to be near their daughter and family.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years on Nov. 20, 2022, as well as her parents Otto and Andanilla Gruetzner, brothers Bobby Gruetzner, Uce Gruetzner, and Otto Jr. Gruetzner, and is survived by her brother, James Gruetzner of Farmington Hills, MI. Ann is survived by her son Randy and his wife, Eileen, of Orlando, FL, and daughter Pam Garrison and her husband, Phil, of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alicia Garrison of Houston, TX, Travis Teinert of Orlando, FL, and Amy Teinert of Orlando, FL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and her happiest moments were time spent with them. Holidays were always wonderful at her home with fun family gatherings and meals. She made sure Christmas was very special as the whole family would be able to be together for a few days. She would anticipate these special moments by decorating the house with manger scenes, trains, and miniature towns blanketed with snow.
Ann was a warm and kindhearted person. You could sense her love for people by just being around her. She looked forward to her and Willards’ family reunions where she would enjoy “catching up” with relatives. Ann loved her church, teaching and serving there for many years.
She will be greatly missed for the love that she poured out over all of us, but it brings us great joy to know that she is with her heavenly Father and her beloved husband Willard, once again.
Our special thanks to the incredible, loving caretakers and staff from Bristol Park, Right at Home and Altus Hospice.

My husband and I did not know Ann but have had a long and wonderful relationship with her son, Randy, and family for more than 30 years during he and his family’s connection with CRU. We have been blessed by this family through the years so it is a long distance relationship. May God’s blessings be felt, and His love be calming and making his mother’s move to heaven a wonderful, peaceful and loving time. May the peace of the Lord be with Randy and Eileen as well as the rest of the family. Gail and Mike Znachko
