Anthony Messina

1939 - 2020

Anthony “Tony” Messina, 81, of Ira Township entered eternal life on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. He was born on July 24, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Frank and Sarah Messina. He married Mary Emmendorfer on September 23, 1961 in St. Jude’s Church in Detroit and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Tony served his country honorably in the United States Navy for four years onboard the Franklin Delanor Roosevelt aircraft carrier. After his service, he held a long-standing career of 30 years working as a truck driver for Chrysler. He attended Starville Church for 15 years. During his free time, Tony was a huge car enthusiast and would restore and build cars that would win him many car shows. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and bike riding. Most of all he was devoted to his family. Tony is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Anthony (Karen) Messina and Joe Messina; his daughter, Cindy (Gregg) West; five grandchildren, Anthony Messina, Katie (Keith) Hagan, Andrew (Christina) Messina, Johnathon (Emily) West and Aaron West; two great-grandchildren; a brother, John Messina; two sisters, Nadine Davis and Roseanne (Shaun) Smith; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Messina. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 12:00pm with a visitation being held from 11:00am until the time of service in Starville Church, Cottrellville Township.
