Ardella Miller Obituary

Ardella Jewel (Proctor) Miller, lovingly known to all as Jewel, age 71, of Bear Lake, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2026. She was born on January 4, 1955, in Manistee, Michigan, to Edward Proctor and Lydia Clements.

On June 9, 1973, Jewel married the love of her life, Jefferey Miller. They were married for 53 years and together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and strong bonds that carried them through life’s joys and challenges.

Jewel was a devoted mother to Dana Miller and Nathan Miller (wife, Kim Long-Miller). She was a proud grandmother to Brodie and Cadence and a loving great-grandmother to Arlo, Chloe, and Ella, who brought her endless joy and pride.

She is also survived by her brothers, Russell Dorn, Butch Dorn, and Eddie Dorn, and her sister, Mildred Hall. Along with her mother in law, LaVonne Miller, brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Jewel retired from Smeltzer Fruit Plant, where she was known as a dedicated and hardworking employee. In her retirement, she found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished spending time with her children and great-grandchildren, collecting chickens, and working on puzzles. She was especially known for her quick wit and warm sense of humor, which could brighten any room and lift any spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Proctor and Lydia Clements; several brothers and sisters; and her father-in-law, Robert J. Miller.

A celebration of Jewel’s life will be held in the Spring of 2026. Service details will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through GoFundMe, organized by Cadence Wilson.

Jewel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, humor, and deep love for her family will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

My deepest sympathy. Jewel was my classmate all through our school years. I was fortunate to visit with her at our 50th class reunion a few years ago. I am so sorry she passed and in such an unexpected sudden way.
