Arlene M. Schimek, born on September 27, 1949, in Chicago to Arnold and Helen Schimek, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, in Libertyville. Arlene lived a life filled with quiet joys, simple pleasures, and a deep love for the people and passions that shaped her days.
A woman of creativity and gentle spirit, Arlene found comfort and expression through music. She delighted in playing the accordion and piano, often filling her home with melodies that reflected her warmth and sensitivity. When she wasn’t making music herself, she enjoyed listening to her favorite songs, watching beloved movies, and immersing herself in the stories and worlds found in books. These hobbies were not just pastimes, but treasured reflections of her curious mind and tender heart.
Arlene’s greatest devotion, however, was to her family. She is survived by her loving sister, Angela Schimek, and her cherished niece, Rebecca Schimek, both of whom held a special place in her heart. She is preceded in death by her sister, Helene Schimek, and her parents, Arnold and Helen Schimek, with whom she is now reunited.
Family and friends are invited to honor Arlene’s life during a visitation on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Kristan Funeral Home, 219 W. Maple Ave., Mundelein. A Funeral Service will follow on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Adalbert Cemetery, 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles.
Arlene will be remembered for her kindness, her love of the arts, and the quiet but meaningful ways she touched the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who loved her.

I’m so very sorry to hear of Arlene’s passing. Our paths crossed almost every day at Chapman over the years until I retired. She was such a hard worker-always so nice and so kind. I pray she didn’t suffer and went peacefully. May she Rest In Peace.

I worked with Arlene for many years at Chapman. She was always kind, polite and very good at her job. I have missed her kind demeanor and helpful attitude since she retired this past August. I hope your memories provide you comfort during this difficult time.
