Arnold “Archie” Fingerhut
June 19, 1930 – January 12, 2021
Arnold “Archie” Fingerhut, 90, of West Haverstraw, NY, passed away on Tuesday January 12, 2021 at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.
Archie was born in Manhattan, New York, to the late Max and Helen Fingerhut. He was also preceded in death by his wife Eloina Fingerhut, his brothers, Frankie, Itzy, his sisters, Annie, Molly, Rae and Rosie. Archie was a United States Army Veteran and retired from General Motors. In his heyday, he loved to bowl. He achieved the highest honor by bowling a “300” game on February 22, 1978 at Hi-Tor Lanes on the Haverstraw Community League which is the oldest league in the county.
Survivors include his daughters, Kim Withorn, April Fingerhut of Bluff City, TN; Ellie Ocasio (Nelson) of Abingdon, MD; Keith Fingerhut (Ingrid) of Ohio. Three grandchildren, Nelson Jr., Sydney and Gabrielle. Beloved nieces and nephews, great and great-grand nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to convey a special thank you to Montefiore Nyack Hospital nurses and doctors for the extraordinary care of our dad. Special Thanks to Shelia in Patient Experience for giving us the opportunity to say good-bye to our dad thru Zoom.
There will be no funeral service at this time. There will be a memorial arranged in the future when travel is safe for everyone.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN: American Veterans, amvets.org; Disabled American Veterans, DAV.org.
