Arnold Charles Schneider, Jr., 91

Arnold C. Schneider, Jr, 91, died August 2, 2021, with his wife by his side at his home in Newtown Square, PA.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, August 11, 2021, at the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA.  

He was born on January 30, 1930, in Union City, NJ to Mary Louise Aimé and Arnold Charles Schneider.  

He graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He earned a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.  

He served as a Corporal in Army during the Korean War beginning in 1953 as specialist 4th class.

Arnie married Dorothy Hirst, June 12, 1960 at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Philadelphia.

He worked as an engineer at AMF, Curtiss-Wright and General Electric.  After retiring from GE, he became a physics teacher at Malvern Prep and then Adjunct Professor at Widener University.

He was a writer, inventor (with several patents), and avid photographer.  Arnie built an airplane wind tunnel in Germany.  He was Rector’s Warden, vestry member, evangelism leader and lay minister leader of the Church of the Good Samaritan. He loved to travel and play golf.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; 3 sons and their spouses, Arnold III, John and Greg; and 6 grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Wagner.
