Barbara Jean Smoak Gourley

1949 - 2025

Barbara Jean Gourley of Avon Park, Florida went peacefully home to be with her Lord on August 21, 2025 in Sebring, Florida.  Beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be missed dearly by many.  Barbara loved people and animals and was a faithful servant of the Lord.  Her positive energy, faithful prayers and endearing love will be missed by all who knew her.  She was born in Avon Park, Florida to Vincent L. and Mary Louise (Pickett) Smoak on December 22, 1949.  She was a graduate of Sebring High School and Jones Business School in Orlando, Florida.  Barbara retired as a medical assistant after working 30 years in the medical field.  She was preceded in death by her Mother –Mary Louise Smoak; Husband – Charles Wesley Clemens III; Husband – John A. Starling; Step-Daughter – Gina Starling and Step-Grandson – Danny Krysalka.  She is survived by her Husband – David B. Gourley of Avon Park, FL; Son – Charles Wesley “Wes” Clemens IV (Teresa) of Sebring, FL; Father – Vincent L. Smoak, Jr. of Sebring, FL; two Grandchildren – Kayla Clemens of Sebring, FL and Kyle Clemens of Sebring, FL; one Great-Grandchild – Kason Wayne of Sebring, FL; three Gourley Step-Children – Natalie Massey (Kenny) of Avon Park, FL; Melanie Gourley (Hayli) of Orlando, FL; Brad Gourley (Elisa) of Berwick, ME; six Step-Grandchildren – KJ, Drake and Dawson Massey of Avon Park, FL; Grayson, Brody and Ariana Gourley of Berwick, ME; three Starling Step-Children – John Spencer Starling (Suzi) of Crystal River, FL; Gayla Massey (Terry) of Sebring, FL; Carla Krysalka (Dan) of Ocala, FL; three Starling Step-Grandchildren – Jamie Massey of Sebring, FL; Leah Massey of Sebring, FL; Shanna Krysalka (Kaihla) of Ocala, FL and many Starling Step-Great-Grandchildren.  Graveside service will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10:00am at Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park, FL.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Somer’s Hospice House, 1110 Hammock Rd., Sebring, FL  33870
