Such memories!! We will miss you Aunt Barb. May you rest peacefully with God.

My mother ( Sharon Shiels, Barbara’s roommate for the last 2 years at Rae-Ann) and I were very sad to hear of Barbara’s passing . My mother wanted you to know that she was a very sweet and loving person. She always kept an eye on my mom, and would alert the staff if my mom needed help. She had the best room decorations and kept her room cosy . I so admired her independence , she truly was a inspiration , She will be missed ❤

BARBARA M.'s Obituary

On the second day of the November 2025 Barbara Young passed peacefully from this life into the next where she was receiving care at Rae-Ann Nursing home in Westlake, Ohio. Formerly of Lakewood Ohio, Barbara lived a life of purpose and dedication to her family and friends right up until the age of her passing of 78.

She was born in the heart of Cleveland Ohio from her late parents of Elizabeth and Lorenz Rauscheder. During Barbara’s young adult years, she enjoyed life to the fullest, unburdened, lively, animated and enjoying life. A free spirit and unconstrained. She took interest in people’s lives and was always ready to lend her opinion.  A person could always count on Barbara to be transparent with how she felt about a person, situation, or the events of what was going on in the world.  And if you bought her a beer that transparency became thinner and you would surely know what she was thinking. But for all of her exuberance she had a passion for learning more about the world around her.   Barbara was an avid reader always interested in the different aspects of life that surrounded her.  Between this and her occasional crocheting it created a personal space for her allowing her to be creative and recharge before having to face the obstacles of life.

Shortly after her younger years, Barbara focused on creating and building a family and strengthening the bonds of friends that she held dear.  Today she is survived by two of her children Daniel Young and his husband Vincent Sutera and Natalie Young.  She was blessed to have three grandchildren, Ariann, Sean, Damien and one great grandchild, Carmen.  Barbara also leaves behind her sister Elizabeth Rauscheder and her good friend Kay Goebel.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet for her Funeral Mass Thursday, November 6, St. Patrick Church, 4427 Rocky River Dr., at 11:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers for the bereaving family please consider contributions to the American Stroke Association or the American Cancer Society.
