Barbara Jean Neal, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 20,2022 under hospice care at Texhoma Christian Care Center in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022 in the Chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Stubblefield, officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
Barbara was born September 10, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Dorothy Mildred (Webb) and Milton Clair Solesky. She attended elementary school in Chicago, middle school in the Rio Grande Valley, and graduated from Wichita Falls Old High in 1950. After graduation Barbara worked in Wichita Falls at Fedway Department store, Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith as a PBX operator until her first retirement, and Wichita Falls State Hospital as an operator until her final retirement. While working at Fedway, Barbara met Bobby (Bob) Lee Neal, who she married August 29, 1958. They raised 2 daughters, Connie and Rhonda, both of Iowa Park. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls. She enjoyed needlework, novels, and card games in addition to being the nucleus of the family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Neal; parents, Dorothy and Milton Solesky; brothers, Merrill Clair and Edwin Arthur Solesky; son-in-law, Kerry Lee Scobee; grandson, William Ray Hibbs Jr; granddaughter, Angel Dawn (Hibbs) Kerr; and great-granddaughter, Sarenytie Minor.
Cherishing her memory are daughters, Rhonda Lee Scobee, and Connie and husband Erik Sandquist Sr; grandsons, Bobby (Angela) Scobee and Erik (Lindsey) Sandquist Jr; granddaughters, Jeanine (Mike) Cook, Tina Minor, and Monica (Jay) Sandquist; great-grandchildren, Tyler Hibbs, Colten (Lance) Hibbs, Mahri (Matt) Schumacher, Justin (Halli) and Nicole (Miller) Hibbs, Ethan Hadley, Alexa and Chloe Hull, Queiana and A’Naudya Minor. Alexis, Lilli and Liam Sandquist, Angel (John) Emro, John W Emro and Christian Hayden; great-great-grandchildren, Kaedyn Bowhan, Zara Schumacher, and Brooklynn Perkins; sister-in-law, Irene (Merrill) Solesky; former son-in-law, William Hibbs Sr; and close friend, Anne Sandquist.
The family wishes to thank Texhoma Christian Care Center of Wichita Falls, and Hospice of Wichita Falls for their tender and compassionate care during her final journey.
Barbara was generous with her donations and courtesy to many charitable organizations and causes. In the words of Etienne de Grellet, “I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
