Barbara Sullivan Petrillose, 93, of Tampa, FL, formally of Ithaca, NY passed away on June 20, 2021with her family by her side. Born September 10, 1927 in Ithaca, NY, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Margaret Devoy Sullivan. A graduate of Ithaca High School she began working for New York Bell Telephone Company later joining Tompkins Trust Company working in the central records and mortgage and notes departments. She was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Catholic Daughters in Ithaca, NY. Upon permanent relocation to Florida, she became a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center, FL., Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and eventually Christ the King Catholic Parish in Tampa, FL.
Predeceased by her husband of sixty years John W. Petrillose Jr., she is survived by her children, Dr. Michael J. Petrillose of Lake Mary, FL., Laurie Joughin (Leslie) of Tampa, FL., Cristina Petrie (George) of Tampa, FL., grandsons’ Andrew Joughin of Sebring, FL., and Charles Joughin (Chad) of Sperryville, VA. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Ramon Chang House and LifePath Hospice for their compassionate care. We would also like to recognize her many friends who stayed in contact with her over the years.
Barbara was a warm and caring person, loving wife, and mother. She was full of life and love and never met a stranger. She genuinely cared about people. She loved the Yankees and Tom Brady! Her family will deeply miss her sparkling blue eyes, beautiful smile, and the strength, warmth, and grace she exhibited throughout her life.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca, NY on Friday July 16, 2021 at 10:00am. Her family will receive guests at the church prior to the mass. A private interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Ithaca, NY, next to her late husband. Donations may be made in her name to LifePath Hospice, American Heart Association or the charity of one’s choice in her name.
