Barbara R. White, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024.
Beloved mother of Robert D. White, III (Elizabeth White) and David R. White (Erika White). Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert D. White, Jr.
She had four grandchildren (Eliza, Sarah, Daniela, and Rexford) whom she loved deeply. They brought her immeasurable joy. Any conversation quickly turned to an update on her “college girls” and “munchies.”
Born and raised in Overbrook and Haverford, Barbara was a long-time resident of the Main Line. She raised her family in Malvern before retiring to Hershey’s Mill in West Chester. Barbara was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr and Rosemont College.
Barbara will be remembered as a loving mother and friend who cared deeply for her family. Her passions were her painting, her writing, her beloved dogs, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her two terriers, Jack and Daisy, gave her great joy in her later years.
Barbara spent countless hours watching her boys compete on squash courts, even remarking later in life how great it was to hear the sound of the ball again. Her last trip outside was to see the new squash facility at Princeton University.
Barbara spent her last year living at the Meadows at Lawrence where she immediately connected with the other residents and staff. She left a lasting impression with her kindness and warmth.
A Graveside Service will be held January 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery at 1600 S. Sproul Road in Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara White’s memory may be made to Main Line Animal Rescue (www.mlar.org) or The American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
