The loving daughter of Mr. Abraham Washington, Sr. and Mrs. Daisy Williams Washington was born on February 7, 1951 in Georgetown County, South Carolina.
Her parents, and three brothers, Abraham, Jr., Bernie Lee, and Benjamin, all preceded her in death. In addition, she was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Frances Trappier (Amelia), a sister-in-law Hestina Nelson, and a step-son Bernard Shaw.
Affectionately known as “Nida,” her secular education was received in the public schools of Georgetown County where she graduated from Rosemary High School, Andrews, South Carolina in 1969.
On September 6, 1989, Bernida was united in holy matrimony to her devoted husband Mr. James Trappier, also known as “Shorty.”
She was a faithful member of Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in the Sampit Community. Bernida was also a member of the New Hope Chapter #343 Order Of Eastern Star PHA.
She was employed with the Georgetown County School District as a secretary for thirty-seven years, until retirement from Rosemary Middle School.
Bernida was a loving supportive Mother to her son Jeffrey, and a Treasured Grandmother to all of her grandbabies. She enjoyed dancing, going out on the town shopping with her sister Emma, and catching up with her friends Cathleen and Barbara.

"May the work that I have done speak for me when I am resting in my grave". On behalf of the family of Pastor Isaac V Cropp Jr and wife Sister Rose z. Cumbee-Cropp we ask our Lord to give comfort and peace to all the family members and friends of Bernida.
On the many times which God gave me the opportunity and pleasure of meeting Bernida when I went into the Rosemary Schools office, as well as within the community, Bernida always demonstrated the character of kindness and dedication to her caring for the children whom God positioned to help, encourage, lead by her example, and to love.
Rest Sister Trappier, we thank you for you calling of God and the Demonstration of Love for ALL CHILDREN.
