Agawam – Betsy A. Dieters, 98, died peacefully Wednesday morning in a local nursing home. Betsy was born raised in Keboemen, Indonesia, where she survived WWII during the Japanese Occupation with three children while her husband was a POW. Following the war, she was reunited with her husband, had fourth child, and in 1950, the family moved to Holland where they had a fifth child. Eventually the family immigrated to the United States in 1960. Betsy has lived in Springfield, Greenfield, and Chicopee. Betsy is predeceased by her husband, Hubertus C. Dieters in 1982, daughter Angela (Arie) Rietvelt and her grandson Marcus, and son Hubertus Jr. and his daughter Tammy. She leaves three children, Irene (Robert) Flannery, Durine (Johannes) Uiterwijk, and Johnny (Linda)Dieters, and daughter-in-law Diane Dieters. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Constance, Brian, Angela, Kyle, Kristie, Marjorie, Nicole, Daniella, Jenny, Melissa, 20 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield. For more detail or online condolences please visit curranjones.com. I enjoyed my many visits eith Betsy at the South Hadley senior she was such a kind and loving lady. I will never forget her ❤ please accept my deepest sympathy

Betsy was a true friend. We had many good times together. She had a very strong faith and she is happy and with no pain with her PaPa. God bless her and God bless her family who will miss her for sure.

Having the pleasure of knowing Betsy, hearing her voice and seeing those twinkling eyes was one of the best gifts in life that I have ever received. She was a frequent visitor at the South Hadley Senior Center and I thank you for sharing her with me.
